Old Geezers Personnel
Bruce DeGarmo has been making things from wood for the past sixty (60)-plus years beginning when he and his nephew Bob transformed a wood workbench Bruce got for Christmas into a helicopter. Needless to say, that didn’t work too well (although it was a lot of fun). Fast-forward a couple of decades and several high school later woodworking classes later, and the projects have only gotten bigger and better.
After high school Bruce attended University of Wisconsin – Platteville where he studied to be an Industrial Education instructor (yes, back then it was called Industrial Education – which is currently Tech Ed). After teaching Woodworking, Electronics and Small Engine Repair at Beloit Memorial High School – Aldrich Campus for one year, it was decided that he wasn’t cut out to be a high school teacher, so he left for the world of construction.
Bruce worked nearly forty years in construction as a Construction Estimator for J.P. Cullen and Sons, Inc. With many projects built along the way, Bruce decided to set up a wood shop and start making sawdust upon retirement.
In October 2022, Bruce and his wife Tami decided to add to their workload by taking an individual project and making several pieces as corporate gifts that included the clients’ logo.
With 2023 upon us we are running with many new projects and ideas.
Tami has put up with Bruce making sawdust and tracking it through the house since 2002. She decided in 2018 to help with the sawdust-making and is still after Bruce to quit tracking it throughout the house.
In October of 2022, Tami decided she wanted to work on her own projects and started making coasters (on the CNC), jewelry boxes, and of course her own style of Edge and End Grain Cutting and Cheese Slicing Boards.
As of the beginning of 2023 she has started designing, pouring epoxy and finishing River Tables with Bruce and Lloyd.
